Camps & Retreats

St Clare’s College students participate in Camp and Retreat programs to:

  • develop in students a sense of social integration and self reliance
  • provide opportunities for outdoor recreational experiences
  • provide students with an experience of independent living
  • assist students to interact with their teachers and peers in an informal setting
  • assist students to communicate effectively
  • develop in students a spiritual appreciation through participation in the liturgical dimension of the Camp or Retreat Program.

Year 7 Camp

Year 7 Camp is part of the ‘orientation’ program for Year 7 students.. The venue and activities are designed as a vehicle for the development of each student The aim of the camp is for students to gain confidence and skills as well as to promote the development of new relationships, teamwork and leadership qualities.

Year 9 Camp

The Year 9 Camp aims to build student’s resilience capacity by creating and conquering personal challenges, have students bond through recognising, accepting and working with others’ strengths and weaknesses and to develop students’ empathy for each other and ability to communicate effectively with their peers through debriefing and reflection activities.

Retreat Days – Years 7 to 11

Each year group is withdrawn from their standard schooling environment to participate in a Catholic Retreat Day with their year group once a year. The theme of each individual retreat is linked closely to our school liturgical theme and the content reflects spiritual and personal development suitable for students within each age bracket. Our Mission & Ministry Coordinator plans and organises the day but also utilises our Youth Ministry Team and students’ Pastoral Care Leaders to facilitate activities.  These days are an important component of the spiritual formation of our students and are designed to ensure that all members of our community are able to be actively involved in developing a genuine understanding of what it means to part of a Catholic community.

Year 12 Retreat

The Year 12 Retreat is an integral part of the students’ educational journey as it makes a significant contribution to their religious and personal development.  The aim in planning and facilitating the retreat is to allow students valuable time and space to reflect, pray and celebrate, and above all, the opportunity to reassess and evaluate their lives and goals at this crucial time. The focus is on preparing for the transition from school to the wider world and the developing relationship of each student with God.
