Welcome to the 2026 School Year
“You will seek me, and you will find me
because you will seek me
with all your heart.”
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you have enjoyed a restful break with your families and are feeling energised for the year ahead. As many of you are aware, Dr Cleary is taking leave for Term 1. During this time, I am honoured to be stepping into the role of Acting Principal. To share a little of my background, I have been a teacher for 30 years, working with students from Kindergarten to Year 12 in various schools across Canberra, Young, and Braidwood. As a parent of five very different children myself, I deeply value the partnership between home and school. You place great trust in our College community, and we take that responsibility seriously.
Our 2026 College Theme
This year, our College theme centres on the heart, inspired by the words of the prophet Jeremiah.
“You will seek me, and you will find me because you will seek me with all your heart.”
(Jeremiah 29:13)
The scripture calls us to lead with contemplation, mercy, and peace; qualities we hope to continue nurturing in every member of our community.
Welcoming Our Community
We extend a particularly warm welcome to all new students, especially our incoming Year 7 cohort, the graduating Class of 2031. I also look forward to introducing the new staff joining us this year, who each bring unique gifts to enrich the life of the College.
Key Information for our STCC Community
As always, we value our partnership with you and take seriously the trust you place in us. If you have any concerns, please contact your daughter’s Pastoral Care teacher or classroom teacher in the first instance. I look forward to a positive and productive year ahead for the entire St Clare’s Community.
Warm regards,
Mr Mark Chifley
Acting Principal
