Principal’s Message

Over the past few weeks there have been several wonderful events at the College, all of which contribute to the great school spirit that is so evident within our community.

Our first Science Fair showcased the independent research projects of our Year 7 students. Students used the inquiry process to investigate a topic or theme of interest and present their findings to their peers and to Mrs Gai Brodtmann, Member for Canberra. On Friday 11 August the Youth Ministry team facilitated a retreat on the... Read more »

Welcome to Term 3 and I hope that all students and their families had an opportunity to have a restful holiday. As Semester 1 results and reports have been received during the break I trust that this time has been an opportunity for rest, reflection and goal setting for the girls and I hope that each student will have a productive and successful second semester.

Congratulations to those students who have been acknowledged with either Academic or Endeavour Awards at our recent awards ceremonies. I trust that students will be inspired to continue to put their best foot forward and make the most of their learning opportunities in Semester 2. Last week we celebrated NAIDOC Week across the Archdiocese and... Read more »

We are approaching the end of term and the girls are very busy preparing for tests and completing work for oral presentations, assignments and various assessment items that are due over the next few weeks.

The formal exam period for students in Years 11-12 runs from 8 – 16 June. We wish the girls well for their exams. The Student Representative Council facilitated a stress free week in the lead up to the exam period. This has been particularly well received by our students who have undertaken a range of... We are now more than half way through the journey of Lent which offers us a special opportunity to grow in our relationship with God and to deepen our commitment to a way of life, whose very foundation is in our baptism.

In our busy world, Lent provides us with an opportunity to reflect upon our habits, to pray more sincerely, experience regret for what we’ve done or failed to do, and to be generous to those in need. The Season of Lent is offered to us as a time of renewal: a time to strengthen our... Read more »

Winding down or winding up??

“You must be winding down now” is a common line presented to staff at this time of the year. If you want to make a friend with a teacher or school support staff member I suggest you avoid that line and talk about something else! The last few weeks of Term 4 are extremely busy... Read more »

Do elephants have a growth mindset?

Baby circus elephants are tethered when they are young by a relatively small rope so they don’t run away. The interesting thing is that the rope doesn’t need to get much stronger as the elephant grows older because the elephant learnt from the early days that it had no chance of escaping. It accepted its... Read more »

End to another busy term

My pilgrimage to Greece, Turkey and Italy following in the footsteps of St Paul was an amazing experience. Visiting ancient cities that have been part of the stories I have heard since I was very young was an enormous privilege and I felt very blessed to have had the opportunity to undertake the journey. My... Read more »
